What did the Lord Jesus promise the church before he ascended to heaven?
1/ CHRISTIANS MUST BE FILLED WITH THIS POWER OR THEY WILL FAIL TO REACH THEIR WORLD
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” [Luke 24:49 (NLT)]
2/ THE POWER TO SPEAK THE GOSPEL WITH SUPERNATURAL RESULTS
“But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.” [Acts 1:8 (AMP)]
Peter spoke and mighty conviction struck the consciences of hardened people, who were convicted of sin on the spot and thousands repented immediately.
What is this power? What is it for? Does the church need it today?
